Tickets are still available as Carlisle prepares to welcome former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.

Fury will be the star attraction at the event at the Shepherd’s Inn in Carlisle on September 30.

He will be joined by host comedian Lester Crabtree and Liverpool comedian Jamie Sutherland.

It has been organised by Ian Milburn, of IM events.

“Tickets are still available. They’re very limited for VIP but there are a few left on the standard package,” he said.

“The feedback has been good and ticket sales have been decent. But, because of the capacity of the Shepherd’s Inn, we can get nearly 400 in there.

“I was speaking to [Tyson’s] management team on Saturday night, and Tyson was due to do five dinners. But he has had to cancel four of them.

“The good thing for us is it is the last dinner he will be doing until well into next year.”

Fury, nicknamed The Gypsy King, is a popular character and Milburn expects the Wythenshawe-born fighter to be a hit.

He added: “He loves it. He has done a few [dinners] before. The way he is, he wants to give his fans something to listen to.

“I was not the biggest fan of his initially but I have really, really warmed to him. You can see what he has got.

"He has genuine talent and genuine speed. He’s someone who is entertaining to listen to and he genuinely puts himself out there.”

Carlisle’s Charlie Shepherd, meanwhile, will today will be involved in a “Night of the Champions” event alongside Barry McGuigan, Ray Mancini and John Stracey.
