Comets will take on the Tigers home and away in the semi-finals after Peterborough, who were given their pick of the play-offs teams by virtue of finishing top of the league table, elected to face Lakeside.
Glasgow have been a force in the division since Cook, who is riding in the Speedway Grand Prix series this year, decided to join his former club Edinburgh’s fierce rivals mid-season.
But Workington have already beaten the Scottish side home and away this season so will go into the two-legged clash knowing they are capable of reaching the final for the first time.
Team manager Tony Jackson said: "It’s great for the supporters because we’ve had some great meetings with Glasgow down the years and these could be the greatest yet.
"It’s good that it’s effectively a northern semi-final and it means there should be lots of fans at both legs.
"Craig Cook used to ride for us and is from around here so there are so many ways you can sell it.
"There’s probably not a lot in it between the teams and you’re not going to get a rubbish team in the play-offs."
Dates for the play-offs meetings are yet to be confirmed.
