Carlisle Cricket Club's penultimate game of the North Lancs/Cumbria season, a trip to Dalton, was washed out but they hope to round-off the campaign with some action at Edenside tomorrow.

They entertain the 2016 and 2017 champions Workington who look as though they will be squeezed out of fourth place in the final table by their hosts.

George Munsey, the Scottish international, will sub-pro for Carlisle and he has intimated he will be staying around for the end-of-season presentations on what promises to be an action-packed day at Edenside.

Ginfest 2 starts at 2pm, an hour after the start of the Premier Division game and officials anticipate a healthy crowd to assemble throughout the day with a barbecue running, plus live entertainment from X Factor finalist Mike Bromley.

At night, after the game has been completed, the senior club presentation will be held in the clubhouse.

Unfortunately, the club’s Under-19s won’t get the chance to defend their County Championship title as the rescheduled Finals Day at Whitehaven Cricket Club has been put back to next season.

Last Sunday’s first attempt was washed out and two of the participating clubs were unable to take part this coming Sunday.

Carlisle’s game at Dalton was the only one affected by the weather as the other five games produced results.

Cockermouth were able to clinch the Premier Division title with a big home win over Wigton after setting an imposing target of 252-3.

Skipper Gareth White (103 not out) and Alex Grainger (57) put on 128 for the first wicket as they made light of the fact the innings had been reduced to 40 overs a side.

By comparison, Wigton were always struggling and lost half the side for 38, including in-form pro Mike Slack for 17.

John Reed gave the innings some substance with 35 but they were eventually all out for 123 off the final ball of the 40th over.

Richie Berrington, a Scottish international team-mate of George Munsey, took 3-23 while Chris Hodgson took 3-34 from 13.

After leading the table for such a long time, Cleator faltered at the final few hurdles and will have to settle for runners-up, even though they beat former champions Workington at the Valentine Ground.

Workington were bowled out for 128 with David Rooney taking 5-22 from 12.3 overs and Cleator got to their 40 overs target with six overs to spare, and six wickets in hand. James Rogers top-scored with 40 not out.

Keswick had a welcome win to complete their home programme when they beat Lindal Moor by seven wickets.

Veteran Keith Richardson, recalled to the side after previously announcing his retirement, took 4-27 from his 11 overs as Lindal Moor were bowled out for 76.

Professional Geeth Kumara made 39 not out as Keswick won by seven wickets, their eighth success of the campaign.

Lindal Moor are now next to bottom, 10 points clear of Haverigg, surprise winners against Millom.

Tomorrow’s final Premier Division games are: Carlisle v Workington; Cleator v Wigton; Cockermouth v Millom; Furness v Lindal Moor; Haverigg v Keswick; Whitehaven v Dalton.
