Workington Town boss Leon Pryce admitted his side had been ‘dominated’ after their loss against Oldham.

Pryce said his Town side wasn’t good enough on the day and that Oldham looked the better drilled team as they recorded a 32-10 victory at Derwent Park.

“It was very upsetting, and not good enough from us.

“But at the same time I have to applaud Oldham as I think they were the better team from the first minute of the game,” said Pryce. “They looked well drilled and it looked like men versus boys, we were physically dominated the whole game, we couldn’t win a ruck in attack or defence and couldn’t get up with the speed of the play-the-ball.

“I’m not one for making excuses though, we were beaten by the better team.

“But we have identified the fact that we need to get people training three days a week and we are struggling at the moment to get Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, where we get everyone there.

“And I think until we do so, we will continue to be inconsistent.”

Oldham got off to a great start with a try inside the second minute and, despite Town coming back to take the lead at 6-4, they soon lost it again.

And once Oldham got into gear they pulled further away.

There were opportunities for Town to get back into the game but a strong Oldham presence denied them any real attempt.

“We had chances in the game to get somewhere near them but sometimes, and for the first time this season, I have to say we were beaten by far the better team,” acknowledged the Town coach.

“On the day they were deserved winners. I don’t want to accept it and I want to put it right but that’s what it is.”
