WE shared the news that a brand new Megabus service from Carlisle to London is to begin from September.
Two services a day are set to leave Carlisle for the capital, including an overnight service which arrives in London at 6.30am.
A regular route from Carlisle to London is expected to take approximately eight hours through the week with single ticket prices starting from £11.90.
Here's what readers thought.
Jules Goldsmith said: "Cheap as chips but eight hours on a bus won't be fun. Take War and Peace and The Decline and Fall Of The Roman Empire to kill a bit of time."
Gary Tunstall said: "Eight hours on a bus! Get your advance train tickets for not much more and half your journey time."
Natalie Davies replied: "Also my regular commute to London costs between £75-£145 for return tickets so significantly more money."
Lindsey Clark agreed, commenting: "£11.99 from Carlisle to London, that's well cheap I still couldn't get it for that price with a rail card."
Judith Gale said: "This can't be true! How amazing! No more cancelled, delayed, postponed or disappointing train journeys. Made my day."
Gwyneth Wilde said: "It would be helpful to have reliable local transport from Carlisle to Hexham."
Paul Jones added: "£11.99 single can't go wrong there."
Alastair Petre said: "Big advantage for a day in London, even better if you can pick an advance rail ticket for the return."
