A man has been arrested and more than £80,000 of drugs seized by police at a railway station.

Officers made the discovery during a search at the station in Inverness on Tuesday.

Heroin and cocaine worth £81,000 was found and a 24-year-old man was charged in connection with the find.

Detective Sergeant Sam McLaughlan said: “We are committed to tackling the supply of controlled drugs to the Highlands and Islands and pro-actively targeting those individuals intent on causing harm to our local communities.

“We rely on the support of the public to help us take action to disrupt the drug trade.

In a separate incident, officers recovered drugs – believed to be Diazepam – with an estimated street value of £150,000 during a search a flat in Glasgow.

A 44-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the recovery which took place at Napier Terrace, Govan, at around 5.25pm on Tuesday.

A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
