WE shared the news that Carlisle's newest shop, Flutter & Fern, enjoyed a busy opening night last week with visitors from near and far coming to sample the art and products on offer.

The nature-inspired business is owned by Joanne Palmer, from Currock, and her new location in the city centre is her first permanent opportunity to showcase her art and designs.

The shop officially opened its doors to the public on Thursday, October 12, with visitors offered champagne or orange juice as they perused the goods on offer.

Here's how readers reacted.

Leona Miller said: "Well done to you both," while Joanne Leah Palmer added: "The photographer was incredible."

Nichola Turnbull Fawkes said: "Well done," and the Facebook page Naturally Local Cumbria said: "Fabulous! Well done Flutter & Fern."

Emma Lunn added: "Well done Flutter & Fern so proud of all the work you have put into your venture and wish you all the success! Beautiful photos Lauren May Photos."

Harry Palmer commented: "Don’t forget to follow us Flutter & Fern for art and Flutter&Fern HQ for shop updates."

Flutter & Fern sells a range of items including stationery, art, and pins designed by Joanne, who also hopes that the shop can serve as a social hub for the people of Carlisle and beyond.
