WE shared the news that shoppers in Workington queued up to enter the new TK Maxx store in town.

Crowds gathered outside of the new store located in the former Debenhams unit in the Washington Square Shopping Centre, with the doors opening at 10am on October 12.

Here's how readers reacted.

John Burrell said: "Reminds me of the queue at Glastonbury," while Scarlet Windsor said: "Well done Workington. From strength to strength - John Lewis and Primark next please."

Elaine Johnston said: "Brilliant hope it brings more shoppers to the town."

Hannah Watt said: "I went in around 10.30am. I couldn't get to properly look, and trying to manoeuvre in my wheelchair around aisles clogged with people wasn't fun. I'll go back when there's fewer people so I can actually look at things."

Facebook page Rock With said: "Best of luck to them, always good to have jobs created and an empty unit taken up."

Alina Majewska added: "Glad at least something new is opening in Cumbria. It's sad, there’s a tumbleweed going across Carlisle's centre now, save from a McDonalds and a Primark there's nothing left."

One web user said: "TK Maxx is a load of rubbish I went in the Carlisle store when it first opened and I've never been back in since and never will."
