A PROMINENT West Cumbrian hotel has been closed suddenly 'until further notice' - with many in the area having bookings cancelled for the coming weeks, leaving the future of the popular wedding and event venue uncertain.

Hunday Manor Hotel, Windscales, Workington has displayed a sign saying that they would be closed 'until further notice' as many fear for the business's future.

The sign reads: "Apologies for any inconvenience."

Members of the public have alleged on social media that staff were told the venue would close and not be re-opening again over the weekend.

Many have taken to Facebook to try and appeal for help, being unable to contact the hotel, despite having events such as weddings booked over the coming months.

A number of bookings and events this week have been cancelled due to the hotel being closed, with some regular clients having to move longstanding bookings elsewhere due to the uncertainty around the future of the establishment.

The Times & Star have tried to contact the hotel, however have not yet received a reply.
