A section of the A69 was closed for more than three hours following a two-vehicle crash last night.
The collision, between a silver Toyota car and lorry at Greenhead Bank, east of Brampton, happened at about 7.20pm.
Police said the road, which is the key route into Cumbria from the north east, was completely blocked and diversions were put in place.
Officers confirmed this morning no one was seriously injured.
Both vehicles ended up on the grass verge with the good vehicle's trailer sticking out into the carriageway.
Traffic was diverted along the Military Road while police and fire crews cleared the debris from the road.
Around midnight, Northumbria Police confirmed the road had opened again to traffic.
