Carlisle's Celebrity Big Brother star Roxanne Pallett has spoken of her fear about how her friendship with fellow housemate Ben Jardine could be 'misconstrued'.

Roxanne revealed her thoughts in the diary room before last night's first live eviction on the Channel 5 show.

There has been speculation from a number of housemates that romance may blossom among some in the show.

Several have noticed how Ben Jardine, who starred in reality TV show Married At First Sight, has grown fond of Roxanne, who made her name starring as Jo Sugden in ITV's Emmerdale.

Rodrigo Alves was among those to raise it with the former Trinity School pupil in last night's pre-recorded segments of the show.

Roxanne, who recently revealed she was engaged to her partner Lee Walton before entering the show, told Big Brother: "A couple of comments have been made to me about how well Ben and I get on.

"It is playing on mind because we are just friends, like brother and sister, but if that is how people are receiving it and it could be misconstrued on the outside it is making me worried because I'm engaged."

She also said the comments made by her housemates were making her consider 'staying away' from Ben and how that would 'make her unhappy'.

"It will make Ben think 'where has his buddy gone?' and I will be living my life down to what other people think," said Roxanne.

Ben has also opened up about his feelings for the 36-year-old Roxanne in the diary room.

Describing the former Emmerdale actress as "nice" and "caring" during Thursday's show, Ben added that "I just click with her".

Last night Natalie Nunn and Rodrigo Alves were seen chatting about the pair with Natalie - who was facing eviction - stating she wanted Ben and Roxanne to "show their true colours" and Rodrigo stating that she has a fiance.

Roxanne recently revealed she has become engaged to her partner Lee Walton, a steelworker, who proposed to her a week after they started dating.

A day before entering the Celebrity Big Brother house, Ben Jardine revealed he is expecting his first child at the end of the year, but he did not reveal his current partner's identity.

Roxanne, 36, and her fellow housemates have now spent more than a full week in the CBB house where the first live eviction was taking place late last night.

Others include former Cheers actress Kirstie Alley, former Towie star Dan Osborne, Love Island's Gabby Allen, former Arsenal and Liverpool footballer Jermaine Pennant and celebrity psychic Sally Morgan.

Roxanne's time in the house so far has not been without incident. She was involved in one of the most talked about incidents of the first seven days - when she accidentally fell into a swimming pool while wearing an evening dress.

The video was shared widely on social media, with many claiming she deliberately plunged into the water to get attention.

Viewers of the show also saw fellow housemates talking about the Carlisle actress, labelling her "fake".

Despite this, Roxanne escaped being nominated for eviction.

Instead American reality star Natalie Nunn and comedian Hardeep Singh Kohli were going head to head in the first public vote late last night.

Presenter Emma Willis announced that Natalie was the first to go.

Roxanne, who played Jo Sugden in the ITV soap from 2005 until 2008, chose them both.

She opted for Singh Kohli saying he can "create a tense atmosphere" and said Nunn, despite being a "strong, sassy, vocal, passionate woman", was also part of a massive argument and it was overwhelming.

Since Emmerdale, Roxanne has appeared in TV programmes Waterloo Road - where she played a teenager 12 years younger than her - and Casualty, and films Lake Placid 3 and Wrong Turn 6: Last Resort.

Last month, Roxanne was involved in a crash at a stock car racing track, which saw her have to be cut out of the vehicle and airlifted to hospital. She had sprained wrists and internal bruising following the incident.
