A Cumbrian hotel and spa will offer spa therapies aimed at helping those suffering from cancer.

Armathwaite Hall Hotel & Spa, near Keswick, will be offering Cancer Touch Therapy treatments in partnership with the Made for Life Foundation.

The therapy has been developed by taking advice from trained oncologists, the oncology team at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust and Macmillan.

The treatments available include 'Hand on Heart' treatment for the head, face, back and shoulders, 'Catch the Breath' back and head treatment, 'Touch Therapy Deeply Relaxing Touch' for face or body and the 'Soothe and Nurture' organic facial.

Spa director at Armathwaite Hall Hotel & Spa, Roberta Griffiths, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be working with The Made for Life Foundation and our team of therapists have welcomed the specialist training for guests going through cancer.

"We have always prided ourselves on being inclusive but the new Cancer Touch Therapy treatments mean we can now provide enjoyable and relaxing experiences for all.”

Amanda Barlow, managing director of Made for Life Organics and founder of the Made for Life Foundation, said: "At a time when a therapeutic and nurturing touch is most needed, 96 per cent of spas still turn people away while they are going through cancer.

"We believe that all spas should be accessible.

"Through our work with the Made for Life Foundation, we have for 15 years, consistently ensured that we provide this support; using appropriate protocols combined with our 100 per cent organic skincare and wellbeing range of products."
