HEALTH and fitness club Odyssey Glory Mill has a new owner following a multi-million pound deal, with plans in hand to invest heavily in the business in the future.

The freehold of the club in Wooburn Green in five acres was bought from the original venture capitalist group for an undisclosed sum.

The new executive directors and shareholders are Peter Ward, chairman, Jeff Law (pictured right), CEO and Stephen Aucott, operations director.

"Our plan is to invest in the business, to include brand new tennis courts and replacing equipment in the gym," said Jeff. "We plan to own only freehold clubs and are looking to add a further three or four in the south."

Odyssey Health Clubs has its head office in Stevenage, Herts.

The new owners have already made an immediate investment of £500,000 in new state-of-the-art equipment and facilities with further major investment to come.

"We are very excited for the future. We want to offer our members five star quality and bring back the fun and passion into exercise, " said Jeff.

Stephen said: "This is a great club and it has the potential to be the best," adding that the club has been given planning permission for four floodlit LTA (Lawn Tennis Association) standard all-weather tennis courts, ready by the summer
