A celebration of Carlisle's poetic culture will take place at Tullie this weekend.
The Carlisle Poetry Symposium is an annual event that brings together local writers and poets in their shared love of the spoken and written word.
Throughout the day, there will be a free poetry writing workshop as well as readings from featured writers, open mic slots, and a pop-up bookshop to purchase work from local people.
The symposium will be held in Tullie's lecture theatre on Saturday with doors opening at 10am but the main event will not begin until 12pm.
The free workshop will take place at 10.15am and places can be booked online.
Everyone is encouraged to sign up on the day to do a reading, although it is not essential.
