A ‘milestone’ has been hit on work to build the new southern link road as cattle have used a bridge for the first time.
Cattle have walked over the bridge at Peastree Farm for the very first time as part of plans to protect the farm when the road opens in the near future.
A spokesperson for Cumberland Council said that the opening of the bridge ‘highlights’ the project’s commitment to supporting local agricultural needs while also ‘improving’ local infrastructure.
“Last week marked a milestone for the Carlisle Southern Link Road project as the bridge at Peastree Farm officially opened to cattle,” said the spokesperson.

“The bridge, designed to facilitate the movement of livestock in and around Peastree Farm, is a key feature of the project and will maintain the farm operations by allowing safe passage of cattle over the new road.
“Thank you and well done to everyone involved in making this happen.”
