PLANS have been approved for ten new holiday pods at Armathwaite Manor.

The application was submitted by SRE Associates on behalf of PPM Ltd.

The proposal includes a new access road and package treatment plans, with the pods being served by mains water and electricity.

The Grade II listed Armathwaite Manor, dating back to 1829, is adjacent to the site.

The ten pods will all be of the same design, featuring an open-plan kitchen, sitting room, and bedroom area, with a separate bathroom and sauna area.

Constructed from timber, each pod will be provided with heating and hot water by air-source heat pumps.

Plans have also been approved to convert a 'clock house' at Armathwaite Manor into two-holiday apartments.

As well as bringing on one part-time staff member,  the design and access statement reads: "The proposed works will bring about a use which will see increased tourism to the area therefore benefitting local services such as pubs and shops."

The change of use is expected to ensure the property's future viability.

The statement said: "The change of use brought about by the proposed conversion will achieve a viable use of the property thereby safeguarding its future."

Before the commencement of development, a maintenance and management plan for the package treatment plant must be submitted.
