A new social group will offer support and advice to family members of young people who are exploring their gender and sexual identity.
The Social Circle for Families of LGBTQ+ Young People is a new monthly peer support group in Carlisle that provides a safe, friendly, and confidential space to meet people who are in similar situations.
It is led by Tina, a parent from Carlisle, who has lived experience of navigating gender and sexuality with her child.
The Social Circle is a place for parents, guardians, and family members to ask questions and learn how best to support their loved ones.
Although it is a casual group, they are able to direct people towards also specific support if needed, such as mental health, youth facilitators, homelessness, sexual health and hate crime.
The next meeting will take place on October 30 at The Closet on English Street between 6.30-8pm.
For more information, email Tina on circle.queercumbria@gmail.com.
