A lone walker’s dog suffered a seizure while descending a fell in the Pennines.
Cumbria police were contacted by the walker about his dog, a six-year-old spaniel, having suffered a seizure while descending Cross Fell.
Penrith Mountain Rescue Team were contacted at 10.15am yesterday (September 28), and arrived on the scene, which was high up the fell and on quite rough ground, and found the dog unresponsive and ‘very cold’.
A spokesperson from the team explained: “Luckily we were able to video call our local vets to get their help and advice.
“The dog was stretchered back down the fell by the team and then taken to the vets for treatment.
“Thankfully the following day it was reported that the dog was back conscious and eating following treatment.”
The callout involved 10 team members and lasted five hours.
