A Carlisle firefighter has been selected to represent the England Fire Service football team for the 2024/25 season.
Stuart Forrester is the crew manager at Carlisle East Fire Station and was selected to represent the England Fire Service after impressing at a trial in Ilkeston in July.
Stuart has previously played football locally for teams such as Penrith AFC and Kendal Town.
The crew manager made his debut for the England Fire Service football team in their 3-1 defeat against a Royal Air Force side at RAF Cosford.
Despite the debut result, Carlisle East Station were beaming with pride at their crew manager's selection.
Writing on social media, they said: "Congratulations to Carlisle East Fire Station Crew Manager Stu Forrester, who has been selected to represent the England Fire Service football team for the 2024/25 season.
"Stu was invited to attend a trial game for the side, during a selection process held in July, at Ilkeston Town Football Club - and he impressed enough to be selected for the already-established national squad."
