CUMBRIA Police are investigating a series of thefts in Penrith.
The incidents involved purses being taken from handbags.
Similar incidents have also been occurring in the south of the county in Kendal.
In a post on social media, Cumbria Police wrote: "Police are investigating a number of reports of thefts in the Penrith and Kendal area where purses have been taken from handbags.
"Please remember to keep valuables out of sight and reach within bags and be aware and conscious of your surroundings when out and about.
"If you see something suspicious, please report it. If you have been a victim of theft please report this online or by calling 101."
