A one-of-a-kind furniture and home accessories store in Carlisle is preparing for its 'next chapter'.
Rockit Home, owned by Ursh Stevens, is preparing to relocate as its current premises in a converted church that dates back to 1859, Cecil Hall, goes up for sale.
Ursh first opened her shop in Cecil Hall in early 2020, just a month before the pandemic, but has been running the award-winning Rockit Home for the past 14 years, building loyal support among those after unique and artisan pieces.
Now, with the building up for sale and neighbouring businesses also preparing to move—such as MWD Bakery moving to the Lounge on the Green building in Houghton—Ursh is ready to make the shift to a unit at Mitchell Dryers in Denton Holme.
“It will be a much smaller shop but it will allow me to focus more on commissions, craft workshops as well as the new business – The Ber Months," Ursh said.
"It will still have the elements of craft and upcycling but it will focus on folklore, tradition, recipes, and crafts. It’s about getting the most out of the 'Ber' months.
"So many people adore autumn/winter, especially Christmas, so I just want to promote it all year round, there’s a lot of us that love it all year round," she said.
Rockit Home is planning a leaving party on October 1st and 2nd to thank customers for their support during its time at Cecil Hall.
“It’s not goodbye, it’s just the next chapter," Ursh said.
As part of the moving celebration, Rockit Home is offering up to 30 per cent off selected items on those dates.
The popular wreath making classes will continue as planned, with spaces still available, and Ursh expects to be fully operational in the new location by November 20.
“The last 14 years have been good. It hasn’t always been easy, but it’s been an incredible journey.
"I’m proud of the awards I’ve won, like the Theo Paphitis Small Business Sunday, Jacqueline Gold Women on Wednesday and being named a Small Biz 100 in 2019. I look forward to this next chapter," she said.
