Whitehaven Coastguard team was called to check on reports of an abandoned boat today (September 23).
The team responded to reports of the vessel off Saltom Bay, positioning themselves on higher ground along the coastal path for a better view.
They then observed a rower making their way from the bay back towards Whitehaven Harbour.
The team made contact with the individual to confirm their safety, and after confirming all was well, the team was stood down.
The coastguard team thanked the public for reporting potential emergencies, saying: "It’s always better to check and be sure."
