PENRITH'S Travelodge is set to undergo a complete refurb.
The work is scheduled to start on September 29 and is expected to be completed by November 1.
This renovation is part of a wider multi-million-pound programme by Travelodge, who aim to modernise all of its 600 UK hotels by the end of 2026.
The Penrith hotel off the A66, which was the first Travelodge in Cumbria, will now be the first in the county to feature the new design.
The hotel, which has a main building with 40 rooms and an annex with 14 rooms, has been popular with guests especially those using it as a base for major events in the area such as the Appleby Horse Fair and Kendal Calling.
The hotel first became a Travelodge in 1985.
In that time, it has also seen two extensions, growing from an initial 32 rooms.
Today, the chain operates more than 600 hotels, offering 47,000 rooms across the UK, Ireland, and Spain.
The company also has plans to expand its network with an additional 300 sites.
In April this year, the chain also put forward plans to convert its existing office space on the first floor into additional hotel rooms at its Carlisle site on Cecil Street.
The area would undergo transformation resulting in an additional 22 hotel bedrooms.
The proposal would see the Carlisle hotel bring on an additional five staff members, bringing the count up to 27 employees.
