FIRE crews from across Cumbria are set to take part in a training exercise using 'synthetic smoke' in Carlisle.
Crews from Carlisle, Penrith, and Workington are set to take part in the exercise which will take place between 2pm and 4pm on Sunday, September 22 in The Lanes Shopping Centre's Multi-Storey Cark Park on Lowther Street.
Ahead of the exercise, Carlisle West Fire Station, who are taking part alongside other Cumbrian fire crews, urged the public to not 'panic' if they see smoke.
Writing on social media, they said: "Crews from Carlisle West Fire Station, Carlisle East Fire Station, Penrith Fire Station, Lazonby Fire Station, and Workington Fire Station will be participating in an Exercise in the Lanes Car Park, Carlisle.
"Synthetic smoke will be used, so please don't panic. We are simulating an incident and all is well.
"The Car Park will still be open to the public, as we are just using a small section.
