Roadworks will close a stretch of the A7 in Carlisle for nearly two weeks.
Cumberland Council has announced the resurfacing works between Harker and Blackford Church will be carried out by its contractor, Connect Roads.
The closure will be in place from Sunday, September 22 to Saturday, October 5, between 7pm and 6am, weather permitting.
A diversion will be clearly marked, and residents are advised to plan their journeys ahead and follow the signs.
Traffic marshals will be at closure points to guide residents and businesses through the work site, although there may be short waits.
Emergency services will have access throughout the works.
The council and Connect Roads have apologised for any inconvenience and thanked the community for their patience.
The improvements are part of an effort to enhance the road network.

The council has encouraged residents to stay informed and plan accordingly to minimise disruptions during the improvement works.
