FIREFIGHTER have issued a warning to residents not to park on their site.
Bosses at Longtown Fire Station said there had been ‘several’ occasions recently when they had to signal drivers to move when heading out on a call.
Parking on the premises can ‘seriously affect’ operations according to the station.
A spokesperson for Longtown Fire Station said: “The fire station is operational at most times as we try and keep firefighter availability as high as we can.
“Parking anywhere on the premises can seriously affect our operational capabilities. We have to get firefighters in and the appliance out in under 5 mins from being alerted.

“On several occasions we have had to signal drivers to move from the forecourt when responding to an incident.
“But everyone can do their bit by not parking at the station and reminding others that although the building is not manned 24 hours, it is crewed by 11 town-based firefighters.
“Thank you all for your continued support.”
