A CUMBRIAN independent school has been through some big changes in recent months, with a new headteacher appointed at the establishment and the school joining a prestigious education group.
Lime House School, an independent day and boarding school near Dalston, has been taken over by the Mayfair Education Group.
The group describes itself as an international company that 'helps to improve the ranking of educational establishments against internationally-recognised metrics'.
In a letter to parents, the school proprietors said: "We are delighted to inform you that a final agreement has been reached regarding the takeover of Lime House School (Genwise Ltd) by Mayfair Education Group.
"This will mean that Lime House School becomes partner schools with Avondale School, Salisbury and Salterford House School, Nottingham."
As well as the takeover, the proprietors announced a new headteacher has taken the reigns of the Dalston school. Mike Smith has recently relocated his family from Thailand where he previously worked running a small language school.
The former Ofsted school inspector has said he is 'truly honoured' to be taking over the reigns of the school and has hosted meetings with parents prior to the term starting.
In a letter to parents, Mr Smith said: "I have been truly inspired by my early contact with Lime House School and the support and welcome of the administration.
"This has been particularly important as I have relocated from Thailand with my family where my wife and I ran a small language school. I am very pleased to say our 12-year-old daughter will join Lime House School as a student.
"Together with the motivated and committed management, teachers, administration, support workers and parents we will strive to make Lime House School a place to be revered for its quality of education, personal care and high achievement within the UK international community."
