Almost £93,000 has been invested into 10 projects by the Petteril Community Panel.

The panel, which is a part of Cumberland Council, met recently to discuss the projects which include sound meditation sessions, outdoor play events, a family hub, and CCTV installation.

One of the projects included £1,692 being awarded to install CCTV at St Elisabeth Church in Carlisle with the aim of the project to deter crime and keep the area safe.

The iCan Wellbeing Group Community Interest Organisation was given £3,840 to extend its meditation and sound healing sessions.

The funding will help run two additional monthly meditation sessions at Petteril Community Centre.

Stomping Ground received £10,000 for free weekly play sessions at Hammonds Pond.

The sessions are aimed at eight to 15-year-olds but open to all.

Creighton Rugby Club was awarded £1,500 to upgrade its pitch to accommodate new under-13 and under-14 teams.

Borderline Counselling Services received £2,500 to help with staffing costs.

The Together We Can Community Interest Company was given £1,899 for the Together We Carry project, which supports new mothers and families facing mental health difficulties.

Carlisle Community Help received £15,643 for workshops, classes, printed materials, staffing costs, and volunteer expenses.

The project aims to empower Carlisle through nutritional education and affordable food.

Petteril Bank Community Centre was awarded £21,860 for centre upgrades and staff employment.

Botcherby Community Centre received £13,000 for a new weekly all-day ‘drop-in’ centre.

Currock Community Centre was awarded £20,900 to help transform a room into a family hub.

The next round of investments closes on October 23.
