Events will be held around Cumbria to mark World Suicide Prevention Day next week.
Cumbrian suicide prevention charity Every Life Matters is inviting people in Carlisle, Barrow, Penrith, Kendal, Whitehaven, and Workington to light a candle next Tuesday in solidarity and support with those affected by suicide and suicidal thoughts.
There will be no speeches or pressure to speak to others at the events, there will simply be a moment of silence.
The charity wrote on social media: "The candle-lighting events across Cumbria are an opportunity to come together in solidarity with others who have lost family members, friends, colleagues and others to suicide, and those who want to show their support for people in our communities who are living with thoughts of suicide."
Events will take place at 8pm at the following locations:
-
Carlisle Cathedral
-
Barrow Town Hall
-
The Birdcage in Kendal
-
Workington Town Hall
-
St Nicholas Church in Whitehaven
-
The Bandstand in Penrith
Candles will be available if attendees are unable to bring their own. People are also welcome to bring photos of lost loved ones.
If you would like to meet others or speak to a member of the Every Life Matters team, they will be meeting at 7pm.
