A factory has urged people concerned with odour to contact a newly launched email address dedicated to the issue locally.
It comes as the Environment Agency continue to investigate odour complaints in Penrith.
A spokesperson from the Environment Agency said they are receiving ongoing reports of odour in Penrith, with many attributing it to the Omega Proteins rendering plant at Wildriggs.
However, other potential sources include agricultural spreading and other regulated sites, they said, adding that they’re investigating the reason for a spoke in August reports, including 90 over August 8-9, and they’re looking into other sources beyond Omega Proteins.
While complaints can continue to be submitted to the agency directly, a spokesperson from the parent company of Omega Proteins, Leo Group, said: “To further support the Environment Agency and ensure a real-time investigation by our odour checkers, we would like to ask everyone to also include our environmental team in the correspondence.”
To contact them, email PenrithEnvironmental@omegaproteins.co.uk, and to contact the Environment Agency via email, use incident_communication_service@environment-agency.co.uk.
