A business in Carlisle has been named as a finalist for a national competition.
The Emporium, in Denton Holme, which sells various home items and is a hub for arts and crafts, has been named as a finalist in the UK Small Business Awards 2024 in the ‘best creative arts business’ category.
A spokesperson from Emporium said the shop was ‘founded with a vision of fostering creativity and supporting diverse communities’, and has ‘quickly grown into a beloved venue’.
The Emporium puts on several arts and crafts sessions which the spokesperson said are ‘safe and supportive’ spaces for LGBT and neurodivergent people.
The shop is the product of an idea from two creative minds, Clare Queen-Shaw and Natalie Faunch.
Natalie works self-employed, owning Ethereal Scents, and Claire owns the Queen of Paws dog grooming salon next door to where The Emporium in Atlas Work.
The ceremony venue and date is yet to be finalised.
