The completion of improvement works at The Sands Centre car park has been delayed due to adverse weather.
Cumberland Council now expects the works to be completed at the end of September but will share the exact date as soon as possible.
They are asking visitors to The Sands to not park in The Sands car park, instead they should park in the Swifts Bank car park which is next to The Sands.
Improvement works on the Swifts Bank car park were recently completed.
The council also asks people to not park in the drop zone area at The Sands when dropping people off.
In a post shared on social media, the council wrote: "We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and cooperation."
GLL members should register their vehicles at the leisure centre terminals, saver parking permits are valid in the Swifts Bank car park while work is being completed, pedestrians and NHS patients will be maintained, and school bus drop-off and pick-up points may change.
Alternative parking options in the city can be found on the Cumberland Council website.
