FOR this Nostalgia edition we wanted to take a look at the town of Newcastleton in the Scottish borders.
The village is described as rural, remote, and off the beaten track and is known locally as Copshaw Holm.
It is nestled in the stunning countryside of the border region in the valley of Liddesdale, and is steeped in rich history and ballad lore.
The history of the village is long and turbulent with invasions from both the Romans and Normans, there was also a long conflict between the English and the Scots. The border region was the scene of perpetual strife.
The history of the area and the Border Reivers can be found in the ruined towers and castles and ancient monuments, and in the remains of hill-farms and cottages.
These photos show photos of the people of Newcastleton over the years.
