‘CHALLENGES’ are set to force the delay in reopening Dalston Road, according to Cumberland Council.
The team building the Carlisle Southern Link Road (CSLR) have thanked locals for their ‘understanding’ as the delay continues.
There is currently no access between Peter Lane and Brow Nelson to enable construction of the new Cummersdale roundabout and footbridge. A fully signposted diversion route is in place.
A spokesperson said: “We are currently working through some challenges with regards to the closure of Dalston Road. Unfortunately, these are going to delay the reopening of the road.
“We are working to understand the impact and what we can do to reduce the delay and reopen the road as early as possible.

“We need time to work through this with our contractor, Galliford Try Infrastructure and we will continue to provide updates as the work progresses.
“We understand that this news is disappointing, and we appreciate your patience during this time.
"Thank you for your understanding.”
