THE six finalists in a Carlisle shopping centre's Community Fund have been revealed.

The Lanes Shopping Centre's Community Fund is set to hand £1,000 to a local charity or organisation in a bid to support the work that they do.

The Community Fund was initially launched in April, with several organisations setting out how they would utilise the fund to enhance and improve their services

Now, a judging panel has selected six finalists who will be in the running for the funding:

Blackford C of E Primary School, Carlisle

Cornerstone Carlisle, Denton Street

Cumbria Deaf Association, Carlisle Hub

Heathlands, The Laurie Brewis Trust, Heathlands Farm

Northern Heights, Nelson Street

The Rock Youth Project, Scalegate Road

The winner of the £1,000 fund will now be decided by the public, with voting set to open at 12pm on Tuesday, August 27 2024 on The Lanes Shopping Centre's Facebook page

Voting will then close on Tuesday, September 3 at 12pm, with the winner of the fund announced afterwards.

After the six finalists were announced, Susan Young, The Lanes' centre manager encouraged the public to support their favourite local organisation.

She said: "The judging panel had a tough job to shortlist, given the number and quality of applications that were received, but now it’s over to the public whose help we need in choosing the organisation that will be awarded the £1,000"
