AFTER just six weeks on the road, Carlisle’s newest street food truck is ‘spreading its buns and frying’ with plans to roll up in two new locations.
Sam Addis will be adding Houghton and Brampton to her beloved Smash Shack's weekly commute during the first weekend of September.
With Sam still working at Home Bargains in between serving smash burgers for over a month, she says she’s ‘tired’ but ‘loving every minute of it’.
“We’ve learned a lot since we first started,” she said.
Bringing her new truck to Brampton holds a special place in Sam’s heart as it was where her father was born and lived throughout his life.
Initially unsure as to how popular the business would be, the van has now rolled up to find 30 people queuing on an occasion before they’ve even opened the hatch.

“I’ve met so many people from different backgrounds and now we’ve even got regulars, I love it.”
Sam gave a ‘huge thanks’ to everyone who has visited the van for the support and the positive feedback they have received in such a short spell.
“In the short amount of time, how well we’ve done, it is overwhelming.
“I’ve had a few emotional nights, it’s like a dream come true and I hope it doesn’t stop,” she said.
Whilst they will continue to serve humorously named smash burgers, dirty fries and signature corndogs with fresh produce coming from Steve Wilson's Butchers, Sam announced a new autumn menu is currently in the works.
Regarding the new locations, the truck is set to serve its patrons every Sunday from 1pm to 5pm in Houghton at Gosling Sike starting from September 8.
On September 6, patrons in Brampton can catch the truck at Moot Hall from 4.30 pm to 8 pm going ahead.
Regular appearances every Tuesday from 5pm to 8pm outside Everlast Gym in Carlisle and every Thursday from 5pm to 8pm at Morton Manor will continue as normal.
Ordinarily, the Smash Shack works off pre-orders but for its initial days in Houghton and Brampton, it will be serving customers on a first-come-first-serve basis.
