A popular West Cumbrian sweet shop is set to expand into new premises in Cleator Moor. 

Candy Cabs - Cumbria, which is owned by Dave Hampson and Louise Millful from Cleator Moor, will be moving into the 'bigger' unit on Moor High Street in September. 

This comes a month after the West Cumbrian couple celebrated a successful first 12 months in business after initially launching their confectionary company, which currently operates out of a unit on Egremont's Main Street, in July 2023. 

Revealing the news on social media, the pair said: "With Candy Cabs Cumbria Ltd becoming bigger & bigger month by month it was inevitable we had to expand.

"We’ve secured a big premises on the Moor High Street.

"Opening in September, exact date to be confirmed, we will be bringing you an even bigger and better Candy Cabs Cumbria.

"You’ll see in the coming weeks the big new signs going up and the shop taking shape.

"We will be uploading progress shots as the renovation is taking place and we will keep you updated.

"Thank you to every single customer. Whether you spend 50p or £50 you all have made this happen and we can’t thank you enough."

Speaking previously, Dave had also explained more about the business and the sweet treats it has on offer that they deliver all over the nation.

He said: "We are an old-fashioned style sweet shop with approximately 130 jars of sweets with a modern twist.

"Due to times changing the USA and Asian sweet market has become very popular so we stock a lot of these products - we also have a wide range of Freeze Dried.

"The support locally has been tremendous and  we have orders going now all over the UK, all parts of the UK have ordered from us, we thrive on interaction with customers."
