Tullie will replace some of its Backing the Blues promotional banners after a typo was discovered.
Banners across the city that had been put up to promote Tullie's new Carlisle United exhibition have been called out by eagle-eyed residents for having an incorrect spelling of Carlisle.
The banners say "We are Carlise" and "We love you Carlise we do!".
A spokesperson for Tullie said: "We were really pleased to be able to promote the Carlisle United exhibition in what is a new and very visible way.
"An unfortunate typo on a few of the banners has marred this slightly, the sort that only seems to show its face once production is complete, plenty of people laid eyes upon the designs and somehow, we all missed it.

"Replacement banners with the correct amount of 'l's are currently in production and should be installed soon. As for the 'Carlise' banners, we plan on giving them away so the people of Carlisle can own a little slice of human error history.
"The real story we want to shout about is how this exhibition has been an incredible coming together of the local community to celebrate Carlisle United and its history."
