MEMBERS of Whitehaven Sea Cadets are set to be recognised by the lord lieutenant.
A cadet and four volunteers at the centre are set to be awarded by the royal representative.
Lord lieutenants are appointed by the king to represent him in each county of the United Kingdom.
The honours they present are among the highest an individual can receive.
In a post on social media, Whitehaven Sea Cadets wrote: "We were delighted to find out this week that one of our cadets and four of our volunteers are to be recognised in this year's lord lieutenants’ awards.
"OC Cody will be awarded a lord lieutenants Award for Endeavour.
"C.P.O. McCourt, Mr Ferguson and Mrs Lucas will be awarded a lord lieutenant Certificate of Meritorious Service for Volunteers.
"P.O. Mitchell will be awarded a lord lieutenants Commendation for Cadet Forces Adult Volunteers."
The awards are given to volunteers and cadets in recognition of outstanding service.
Whitehaven Sea Cadets have said that the awards are well deserved and congratulated all involved.
