Ladies Unleashed, the final installment in Amanda Whittington’s trilogy about a group of fish packers from Hull, is headed for Carlisle's West Walls Theatre.
Originally introduced to audiences during Ladies' Day at York Races in 2005, these beloved characters ventured to Australia for Ladies Down Under in 2007 and now, return in Ladies Unleashed in 2022 to the backdrop of Lindisfarne.
This stand-alone play sways between different time frames to interlink tales of current day fish packers with the stories of the Herring Girls in 1895.
With a comedic yet down-to-earth theme, the story focuses on the touching complexities of friendship, ageing, and savouring the present moment.
Retired head teacher and director, Carole Ferguson has led the presentation of this play.
With over 50 years of experience in directing amateur dramatic performances for Langholm Operatic and Dramatic Society, Wigton Theatre group, Green Room and Happy Hour Theatre group, Ferguson has come out of retirement specifically for this project.
"It has captured all the humour and friendship of such a close group of women," she said.
"It is a heartwarming play that has been a pleasure to direct."
The upcoming comedy-drama will run a week-long run from Monday, June 24th to Saturday, June 29th at The West Walls Theatre.
Tickets are priced at only £10, with a discounted price of £9 for members of the Green Room Theatre and can be purchased at Carlisle Green Room Club or the Carlisle Tourist Information Office on 01228 598596.
