BRADFORD City AFC are auctioning a signed Carlisle United 2022/23 home shirt to raise money for charity.

The Blues shirt, which is signed by the club's first team, is being auctioned on eBay as part of the Bantams' aim to raise £20,000 for the Darby Rimmer Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Foundation.

So far, 37 bids for the shirt have been made, with highest valued at £135.

Bradford City legend Stephen Darby represented the West Yorkshire-based club between 2012 and 2017, captaining the side and making a total of 239 appearances.

This followed the 40 appearances Darby made whilst on loan for Rochdale during the 2011/12 season.

In 2018, he was diagnosed with motor neurone disease, and shortly after set up The Darby Rimmer MND Foundation alongside his close friend, the late Chris Rimmer, in order to fund support for families affected by motor neurone disease, and research a cure.

The Carlisle United shirt being auctioned is printed with Darby's number two.

This auction also forms a part of the Bantam's larger fundraising effort, the 'Claret and Amber Ramble' fund which has to date, through its JustGiving page, raised £16,459 for the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation.

This ramble took place on Friday, April 12 2023 when a team of Bradford City AFC staff members took part in a 25-mile walk from the University of Bradford Stadium to Rochdale's Crown Oil Arena.

They said: "A true icon of Bradford City AFC, Stephen gave this club so much, and we want to give him and everyone else suffering from this terrible condition as much as we can.

"All donations and support are very much appreciated, and we give sincere thanks to our friends at Carlisle United, and everyone else who has contributed, for their generous donation."
