THE automation of formerly manual processes at Sellafield has saved 'countless hours' and resulted in 'vast efficiency savings' according to the company responsible.

The new automation was part of a project which has seen timesheet, commercial, and payroll processes become ‘modernised’.

“Called ‘Kissflow’, the software has been implemented by IT company, Unleashed which saw the processes of industrial services company KAEFER - a company which has had a long-term presence on the Sellafield site - become more automated and streamlined.”

"We are thrilled to have worked with KAEFER UK’s Sellafield team to bring Kissflow on board," said Chris Rogan, managing consultant at Unleashed.

"Building on our success with other contractors, we have used Kissflow’s simple but advanced tools to digitise previously manual processes for a key nuclear supply-chain partner.

“In the past year, we have made over 17,500 timesheets and approvals fully electronic with KAEFER saving countless hours of data entry and chasing,” he added.

Jonny Hirst, project manager at KAEFER Sellafield, added: “With Unleashed’s help and advice, we have managed to tailor the Kissflow product to our existing processes, facilitating a seamless transfer.

"As a result, we have realised vast efficiency savings through the management of workflows and automated approvals in a painless transition from previous methods.

“The success has encouraged us to explore further opportunities Kissflow can provide to digitalise the work we do on-site”.

Having been in use for many thousands of timesheets it has collected a huge amount of data on where the hold-ups and efficiencies can be made, Unleashed said.

Chris Rogan added: “We implement Kissflow with as few changes to paper or legacy electronic processes as possible, which eases the transition for front-end users, but now the real work begins, we have twelve months of real-life data at KAEFER which gives us the evidence of how to improve and transform the process moving forward.”
