Young performers from schools in Cumbria are preparing for a spectacular one-off evening showcasing their dance, music and drama skills.

The ‘Shine As One’ event will be brought to life by more than 400 pupils and students from all 13 of Cumbria Education Trust’s (CET) schools taking to the stage at Carlisle’s Sands Centre.

Performers aged 3-18 are currently perfecting their routines before curtain up on the big celebration on Tuesday 21 March.

It’s the first time that all CET’s schools – from Whitehaven to Brampton and Longtown to Tebay - have come together to perform collectively.

The event will involve individual performances from each school, as well as joint opening and closing numbers involving all the schools.

Nic Tweddle, CET Assistant Headteacher and Student Events Lead, said it was going to be an unforgettable experience.

She said: “For the vast majority of the children involved being part of an event such as this is something they would normally only ever be able to dream about.

“There’s already a great sense of excitement for the performance and each school is working hard on their element of the show.

“We’re suggesting to parents, families and friends that they get their tickets quickly, as it’s going to be an extremely special evening.”

As well as the ‘no adults’ performance, pupils and students have created artwork to support the show which will be on display at the centre. They have also carried out research into the original performers of the music, dance and drama. Media students from Brampton’s William Howard School will be putting their skills to use videoing the evening.
