A vaccination clinic is back in action offering Covid and flu jabs to eligible people across Cumbria.

The team at Newton Rigg has served for over a year and addresses a critical demand in rural Cumbria where public transport and centralised services often hinder people’s ability to get jabbed.

Recent 'changing legislative arrangements' forced the Newton Rigg site to close briefly - as it is not on NHS property - but with the support of the Penrith MP Neil Hudson, Eden District Council, and site-owners A. W. Jenkinson, the site is up and running again.

Diane Hutchinson, clinical lead at the site, said: “As cases of both Covid and flu remain high, putting pressure on the healthcare system, it is more important than ever for people to ensure they are properly protected.”

The centre offers Covid vaccinations to anyone aged five and over, and flu vaccinations to the vulnerable.

Anyone eligible for the above vaccinations can either book an appointment on the NHS website or simply walk into the Newton Rigg Campus sports hall.
