OOR readers have responded to the news that Covid cases are set to be low in Cumbria this Christmas time.

The last two Christmases have been badly affected by the virus, with many under lockdown restrictions in 2020 and, with the virus widespread, many families were forced to cancel or alter their plans due to infection numbers and self-isolation procedures.

However, with case numbers considerably lower than previous festive periods, a Covid-interrupted Christmas looks less likely for Cumbrian families this winter.

Here's what you had to say.

Pauline Burke said: "So how come the pharmacy have stopped supplying lateral flow tests then?"

Moira MacDiarmid said: "Less people are testing so therefore the numbers will obviously be low."

Angela Charlton said: "I'm sick of being a human pin cushion. I had the booster and flu jab in October. Are the jabs actually safe? I've not had Covid but had lots of other problems."

Klopp Corkhill said: "If you stop testing amazingly the positive cases drop."

Case numbers are down by three per cent from last week’s number in Carlisle, according to the latest government figure, and whilst cases rose by 14 per cent in Allerdale and 47.8 per cent in Copeland, such low recorded numbers mean that the rise in the number of reported cases in a week is just four and eleven respectively.
