There were some illustrious football names in the directors' box - but it was the Carlisle United hierarchy who went home from Salford the happiest.

Former Manchester United stars Ryan Giggs and Nicky Butt were in attendance at the Peninsula Stadium.

They are part of the 'Class of 92' ownership group at Salford City, with Butt having also recently been appointed chief executive.

The former Premier League stars, though, saw their side thrashed 4-1 by Carlisle.

It meant a happy afternoon for the Carlisle directors who were sat a few seats along from their well-known counterparts.

Co-owners Andrew Jenkins and Steven Pattison were among those there for United, along with chief executive Nigel Clibbens and honorary president David Dent.

Manager Paul Simpson's eldest son Joe was also with the United party as they enjoyed an emphatic Blues victory.
