CURWEN Freemason Lodge in Workington has celebrated the 150th anniversary of its consecration this week.
It held a special meeting on November 12 to celebrate the occasion.
The head of Cumbria Freemasons, Bill Bewley, was in attendance with his provincial officers.
Worshipful Brother Daniel Bradburn gave a narrative of the history of the lodge detailing significant events, past members of special interest such as RW. Bro Canon S.P.L Curwen who became the Provincial Grand Master of Cumberland and Westmorland.
Neil Dixon of Cumbria Freemasons said: "It's an amazing milestone for a local lodge to reach 150 years.
"There's a lot of local history within the members so there's a great link to the history of Workington."
During the lodge meeting, the head of Cumbria Freemasons requested W Bro Trevor Bromley be brought in front of him and promoted to the high rank of Past Provincial Junior Grand Warden.
During the banquet, the Deputy Provincial Grand Master, VW Bro William Henry Morley BEM toasted the lodge and presented Trevor with a new apron badge and collar.
