Cumbria's Strictly contestant Helen Skelton was left emotional on Saturday's programme after her professional partner shared a sweet message with her.

The Countryfile presenter, 39, was visibly emotional after Strictly pro Gorka Marquez told her to believe in herself after her week four performance.

The couple performed a Paso Doble to the song Tamacun by Rodrigo y Gabriela on Saturday night.

The popular pro dancer praised Helen noting that she had been going through a difficult time.

The dancer appeared to hint at Helen's separation from her husband rugby player Richie Myler husband earlier this year.

The former couple shares three children together and only welcomed the third in 2021.

Speaking to presenter Claudia Winkleman after their performance, Gorka said:" I know you have been having a difficult time and I know you’ve been made to feel like you’re not beautiful or good enough.

“But if you don’t believe in yourself, I believe in you, everybody here believes in you, your family believe in you.”

“We all believe in you,” Claudia chimed in and was joined by cheers from the other Strictly stars.

Gorka added: “It doesn’t matter how many times I say it or the judges say it or anybody says it, it’s only you that’s going to make the change and the one who needs to believe in you.

“You’re an amazing woman…amazing mum and incredible dancer so believe in yourself please.”

The pair's Paso Doble earned them 29 points out of a possible 40 with both Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke scoring eight points each while Shirley Ballas gave them a seven.

Meanwhile, Craig Revel Horwood was harsher and scored them a six out of 10.

The couple will return to the Strictly ballroom for the results show on Sunday night to see if they have done enough to avoid the dreaded dance-off.
