ACTORS from shows like Dr Who and Star Wars - plus a Gladiator and one of the Young Ones cast - are coming to Carlisle Comicon.

Organisers said they're excited to share their passions with others later this month.

Neil Livesy, who is running this year’s Comicon with Paul Dunn, has a partnership with Rocket Events, and runs Comicon events in Blackburn and Preston as well.

This year's event takes place on Saturday, October 15, and will be held at the Central Rose Academy from 10:30am to 4:30pm.

Neil said: “Paul and I are both fanboys, or it's truer to say fanmen now that we're at this age.

“We're comic fans, pop culture fans, toy collectors, and I’ve been organising an event called Star Wars Fan Fun Day, but because of the copyright laws we can't make any money from it, so it goes to charity, then we thought we should do it as a commercial event.

“There are eight media guests, a couple of comic creators, and there will be two mivie sets.

“There will be the Jaws movie set where people can lie inside the mouth of the shark on the deck of the big boat, and the other one is the Gremlins movie set, it's the scene where all the gremlins are in the movie theatre and are throwing popcorn everywhere.

“There are about 35 or 40 different stalls selling toys, comics and merchandise and all that stuff, there's going to be some movie accurate mannequins wearing costumes from films, like Star Trek uniforms, and then there will be a cosplay competition.

“Always one of the highlights for Carlisle is that all the people put so much effort into creating these costumes.

“There will be a winner and runner-up in the junior section, and a winner and runner-up for the adults, and an overall winner who will get a prize of £100.

“There will be Q&A panels where the ticket holders can go into the lecture theatre and ask the actors about their careers and the movies they've been in.”

This year’s line-up includes, but is not limited to, Alan Ruscoe, Marc Silk, Carolyn Seymour, Lightning, Christopher Ryan, Tav MacDougall, and Leigh Gill.

Sadly Steve Cardeas who played the red Power Ranger has cancelled because of his film schedule, but a replacement is being sought in the meantime.

Tickets are on sale via their website at http://wonkyrocketevents.uk/carlisle/ or on the door.
