Mountain rescuers were called out to a report of a walker who became unwell.
Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team released information about their mission late last night (September 20), describing a callout to a walker attempting to cross the screes in Wasdale.
Describing the mission that took place on September 13, a spokesperson wrote: “We received a call from the police regarding a walker who had become unwell whilst crossing the screes.
“As per callout 94, our boat was deployed as the safest and quickest rescue option for both the casualty and team members.”
Wasdale Mountain Rescue referred to callout 94, another rescue mission at Wasdale where a party of three people and a dog were unable to make further progress across the large boulder field on the screes.
According to them, the standard team response to this scenario involves deploying the team boat, a transfer from the screes and a drop off to the shore on the other side of the lake.
The spokesperson continued of the September 13 mission: “The casualty was assessed and then transferred to safety on the opposite side of the lake.”
The callout involved 17 members of the mountain rescue team, and took three hours and 23 minutes, starting at 4:51pm and finishing at 8:14pm.
